National EMAS Programme

The EMAS Programme was established in the Czech Republic pursuant to Government Resolution No. 466/1998 approving EMAS. Pursuant to the regulation the following measures were taken:

  • the EMAS Programme Council and the EMAS Agency were established as the bodies responsible for the EMAS Programme in the Czech Republic,
  • the "National Programme for the Implementation of EMAS" and the "Rules for the Implementation of EMAS were issued,
  • an EMAS accreditation body was established,
  • methodical guidelines for the accreditation of environmental verifying bodies were issued.

The National EMAS Programme

The National EMAS Programme is a general document describing the basic relationships between environmental management and the role of the parties to the EMAS Programme.

The Rules for EMAS Implementation

The Rules for EMAS Implementation provide specific rights and duties of the involved parties – businesses that registered for the EMAS Programme, environmental verifying bodies, the accreditation office and the state (administrative bodies).

EMAS in the Czech Republic is provided by the following institutions:

  • EMAS Programme Council,
  • EMAS Agency,
  • Czech Accreditation Institute,
  • Czech Environmental Inspectorate.
